Miami, FL (May 9, 2025) – A restaurant employee working in a busy Miami kitchen was injured Friday morning after a grease spill led to a severe burn accident, according to staff on-site.

The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. at a popular restaurant in the Brickell neighborhood, during lunch prep. The employee, a line cook, was reportedly moving a container of hot oil when another worker slipped nearby, causing the cook to lose grip. The oil splashed across the employee’s arm and torso, resulting in serious second-degree burns.

Co-workers immediately called emergency services, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived within minutes. The injured worker was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s burn unit for treatment. As of now, their condition is stable but will require ongoing medical care.

The restaurant temporarily closed for cleanup and safety evaluation. The incident has been reported to OSHA and the employer’s insurance provider.

Our thoughts are with the employee and their family, and we wish them a full and comfortable recovery.
