Miami, FL (May 5, 2025) – A roofing contractor suffered serious injuries on Monday morning after falling from the roof of a two-story home in Coconut Grove, according to Miami Fire Rescue and early reports from the scene.

The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. near the 3200 block of Oak Avenue. Witnesses said the 33-year-old roofer was installing shingles when he lost footing and fell more than 15 feet onto a concrete driveway below. Although he was wearing a safety harness, it was reportedly not attached at the time of the fall.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes and provided immediate medical care before transporting the injured worker to Jackson Memorial Hospital. He suffered fractures to his pelvis and ribs but is expected to recover.

The roofer was employed by a subcontractor working on a residential renovation project. Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have launched an investigation to determine whether safety standards were violated.

Neighbors described a chaotic scene, with other workers quickly calling 911 and rushing to aid their colleague. Construction on the home has been temporarily halted while the investigation is underway.

We send our thoughts to the injured worker and wish him a full and speedy recovery.
